Title: The 411 of the December Caption Contest (The Info)
Post by: Jezebel on December 06, 2023, 06:44:52 AM
Last month of spells then onto the radio we go.....

With words so inky, you will become bendy to be so indy.

Also for those who are truly powerful or adventurous and want to try out a second spell, here it is....

Snowflakes fall, so does the ball so you can exclaim "Y'all!"

1- 12 entries - winner gets one cap
13-20 entries - winner gets two caps
21-30 entries - winner gets three caps and the runner-up gets one cap.

Yes the more entries, the more request caps you may get, on top of the award of course.

Rules:

The rules have changed from last month (see above for the new rule.)  There is an open discussion. I want it to stay a civil discussion too. Basically, instead of voting on 3 places, you will vote on only 2. First place will get something special in addition to the award. If a tie occurs a secret panel of judges will be contacted and the tie will be broken.

Be creative and have fun.

Prizes:

A really cool award marker will be posted in your profile and you'll have the admiration of all the other caption artists. Check out last year's winners here!  Seriously, those markers are really cool! Also, if you're new to the Haven and you are looking for Gallery Access, enter the contest! You place first or second and along with your prize marker comes Gallery Access!

Post your submissions into this month's 'Contest' board no earlier than now. If you would like to post your submission anonymously, you may pm me and it will be taken care of. The last day to submit entries will be the 1st of January (when I roll out of bed). Voting will then open later that day if possible and be open for two weeks after polls are opened.

This seems like the best fit for "indy" on Urban Dictionary (https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Indy), if that helps anyone.

It can also mean, although I didn’t realize there was another spelling for it

Traditionally, someone who doesn't care what anybody else thinks, or at least pretends to.
If she sees something she likes in Urban Outfitters or Topshop, she'll get it. If she sees something she likes in Abercrombie, she'll get it. If she likes something in a thrift store, she'll get it, etc.
Likewise, her music taste should be what she likes, not limited by any sort of genre.
She will read, write or draw if those are the things she enjoys or is good at.
SHE WON'T ACTIVELY TRY TO BE DIFFERENT, SHE JUST IS! To be an indie girl, you have to be someone who is mature enough to know who you are and happy enough in yourself to stand out.

To be a fake indie girl, however, you need only 4 things. Tumblr, photoshop, a pretentious jumped-up attitude and a fringe.
Fake indie girls are the ones who google 'bands that nobody has heard of' to make themselves different.

I'm kind of tempted to have it be some square middle-aged dude like me frantically going to dictionary.com and the like.  "It says I'm going to become 'indy' - what does that even mean?  Am I super-horny now?  Attracted to weirdos?  Unable to commit?  Is not knowing how to style this hair not enough uncertainty?"

I'd prefer to think that "Indy" refers to "Indiana Jones", but then again I'm known for being weird.

Though on a more serious note, 'Indie" in the gaming world refers to 'independant developers'.  As in, small game companies.  Indie games are often lower budget, yet sometimes are better than what is produced by big corporations.  There is actually an Indie game called Haven that I very much recommend.  The gameplay isn't perfect, but it is fun, but where it really shines is the dialogue.  The character interactions are very well written, and the characters feel real.

There is even a small genderbending aspect to it, though it is brief (and an optional event, not part of the main story).
