It's something I feel enough people have asked for to warrant making it a possibility. ANY Yahoo! Group owner who wishes to post an image archive of their group is welcome to have theirs added!
The Yahoo! Groups archive will be displayed just like the Smartgroups archive, under a separate category, with a subcategory for each group. Like before, either permission from the group owner must be obtained, or proof of numerous attempts to contact the owner having been unanswered, at which time I would be willing to post them 'in good faith', meaning if later the owner appears and does not want it posted, it will be promptly removed from the Gallery.
This offer of an image archive extends to ANY community, not just Smartgroups or Yahoo! Groups. It is meant to act as an accessible image backup in case anything should happen to you group or community.
If you wish to have your Yahoo! Group or any other community or group archived:
- Prepare a ZIP file containing all materials to archive. If you wish any kind of file/folder/album structure to the archive, such as one already on your Group, please establish that structure within the ZIP file.
- Upload the ZIP file to a file storage archive such as Rapid Share (http://rapidshare.com/). It need not be available long, just long enough for me to download it.
- Send the link to the file to Rachel either through a Haven PM, or an email to rachels.admin@gmail.com
- Please provide a link to the group/community being archived so that proper credits may be given.
- If you are NOT the group/community owner, PLEASE provide copies of emails and/or posts regarding either permission from the owner being given, or copies of emails and/or posts regarding your attempts to contact the owner. If they are through forum posts, please provide links to any posts made. Without this, the archive will NOT be posted.
As a group/community owner, you will have access to change any captions related to images or add keywords. However, due to the constraints of our Gallery system, if you wish to add, remove, or replace any images in your archive, you will need to consult a Haven Administrator.
