My instincts are that that would take what is already a very specific prompt and narrow it almost to the point of "write this specific story of a girl losing her spellbook that someone picks up and reads a spell from and can't change back because it's no longer legible (but you choose the names and illustration), filtering out more people who aren't feeling some element of that, but, well, my instincts are often wrong.

I will repeat that I do not understand the rules.

I understand a monthly contest with a single prompt. I don't really understand "the strange little words you have picked" - is that applying to the big collection of prompts underneath? And/but we have to keep track of what ones we've used all year?

Sorry I must have missed that Jennifer Elizabeth, the silly little words refers to the twelve prompts. Each prompt can only be used once by each person so once you use a prompt you cannot use it again so some tracking would need to be done.

I've heard a friend make a suggestion about this year's contests, I won't say who they are, they can post here if they want, but I do agree with the complaint, so I'll reproduce it here.

It's a bit weird for people to be able to choose any of the prompts in any month (as long as they don't repeat a particular prompt). Because, for instance, I might choose the prompt that suggests superheroine transformations, while Jay might choose the one about size change.

We're competing with different themes in a given month. The old style where everyone had to stick to the same theme for a month was both more intuitive and fairer.

I kind of figure the prompt is "lost spellbook", although that does make for a lot of that specific thing over the course of a year.  Part of the issue might also be that we're not writing our own spells; having to put some exact set of words in means taking on Jezebel's voice to an extent, and that's not always easy for some of us.

(Also, not all of the spells actually include a gender change, and I almost want to specify why they would lead to one before using some of them.)

Then for this month we will try something different...

Try this spell

Twin mounds swell from bumps to mountains. Filling the cups and heavy in the hands. May eyes fall on you filled with want or jealousy.

and

The hands turn both ways forward and back. With a spin, you will find years added or taken away.
I will hug you so hard!

The year started hard for the caption contests, working out of the bugs for the new topic and everything but lets get to the announcing of the winner for this month.  Before I do the awarding of the awards to the soon-to-be-awarded person I want to give a BIG thank you to everyone participating in the caption contests! Okay, now, let's get to announcing...  For first place and the clear winner for this month, we have Rene Narcisol's "Brad's five redhead wives"..

A big thank you to everyone entering and to those commenting too. Without all of you, there would be no contests.

Rene's Request

I will hug you so hard!
