Rules for the Showcase
« on: March 05, 2008, 10:53:12 PM »
Because this Community is about maintaining a positive atmosphere, there are requirements for posting captions in the Showcase and rules to follow for those commenting.

Showcase quick FAQs
Q: What is the Showcase?
A: The Showcase is part of the Rachel's Haven Forum that allows new caption artists or members new to Rachel's Haven a place to show off their creative works and allow Forum members to offer creative and constructive critiques to help these new captioners hone their skills and find their confidence.

Q: How is this different then the Gallery?
A: The Gallery requires members of Rachel's Haven to meet certain requirements before they can have access to view and to post. The Showcase allows members a chance to show off their work before they have access to the Gallery, and allows them a chance to see if they wish to continue working with captions before opening a full gallery folder.

Q: What should be posted in this area?
A: As the Showcase is for new members, only works created by new members (members without Gallery viewing Access or first time captioners) should post here. Any work that is not made for another member or group that would fall into the "You Cap Me, I Cap You" boards of the forum should be posted here.

Q: Why only New People or First Time Captioners?
A: Because this is NOT the Gallery, and in no way is intended to serve as a replacement to the Gallery. The main purpose of the Showcase is to collect all of the new captions into one area, and keep the Gallery Board and the "You Cap Me, I Cap You" boards to their original intended purposes.

Requirements to Post in the Showcase
1. The poster of the caption must be either a first time captioner or a captioner who does not yet have "Gallery" Viewing (which allows for Posting) Access.

2. This is not the "Gallery" and is NOT to be used in place of it. If you have gallery posting rights, DO NOT post your works here.  Only use this area if you have not yet received "Gallery" Posting Access. Failure to follow this rule MAY lead to suspension of your full Gallery access.

3. Once a member that has been posting in the Showcase has reached "Gallery" access, they can move these captions into the gallery. At that time, these topics will be locked to preserve the original comments, unless the original captioner wishes for the topic to be removed.

4. As always, all captions must follow the site caption guidelines.

Rules for the Showcase

1. Respect the Captioners and Artists in the Showcase. They put out a lot of effort and share their work with you. If you are impolite, demeaning, or cruel you may see them take their work elsewhere, or send a complaint about you to the Staff.

2. Your Comments give the Captioner/Artist information about what the audience may want. Positive comments can really inspire someone to a new level, negative may destroy their morale. ANY COMMENTS INTERPRETED AS DEGRADING TO THE CAPTIONER/ARTIST OR THEIR WORK WILL NOT BE TOLERATED and may lead to your banishment from this community.

3. Constructive criticism can be helpful to anyone. Example: You notice the font size on a caption is a little too small to read at full size. DO NOT just say 'I can't read it'. DO MENTION that it's hard to read, and that maybe in the next caption they might try a 12 or higher font size instead.

4. Refrain from comments that do not offer any constructive or creative insight, such as 'cool cap' or 'I want to have that happen too', as these comments offer very little to the creators. Please, tell these new people why you like their works or why you do not like their work. What was it about the story you either liked or disliked.
